As a senior TV business reporter for Variety, Elaine Low 鈥07 wrote cover stories on everything from Netflix鈥檚 global programming strategy to Mindy Kaling鈥檚 budding comedy empire. But the one that had the most impact on her was her summer 2020 feature, 鈥淭he Reckoning Over Representation.鈥 A sweeping examination of the entertainment industry鈥檚 racial reckoning in the wake of national Black Lives Matter protests, the article, co-written with Angelique Jackson, won a National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Award from the Los Angeles Press Club.



鈥淚t was gratifying that so many people were willing to talk candidly with us about the realities of working in Hollywood,鈥 Low said. 鈥淚t is important for reporters to tell these stories, because if we don鈥檛, oftentimes nobody will.鈥



Today, Low is a senior entertainment business reporter at 滨苍蝉颈诲别谤鈥檚 new Los Angeles bureau, where she covers the evolution of Hollywood in the streaming age鈥攁nd continues to explore issues of equity and representation.
