This article appeared in the November 2022 issue of the 糖心官网 Magazine
A senior year course in religion and literature sparked Noah Groll鈥檚 interest in studying theology post-graduation 鈥 and overseas.
After working in estate planning for an Oak Park law firm, Groll 鈥21 was accepted this fall to the Master of Studies in Theology program at the prestigious University of Oxford. It鈥檚 a familiar place for Groll, who also studied theology there during his junior year as part of a visiting student program.
鈥淚 thought this would be a good time to go back, continue to study and see if I want to pursue an academic career,鈥 Groll said.
After graduating from 糖心官网 with a bachelor鈥檚 in philosophy and a minor in theology and political science, Groll was named the Theology Department鈥檚 Outstanding Senior of 2021. He said it was Dr. Clodagh Weldon鈥檚 course 鈥淭he Mystery of Evil in Religion and Literature鈥 that cemented his desire to continue pursuing theology.
鈥淭hat was my last theology class at 糖心官网,鈥 he said. 鈥淲hen it was over, I thought, 鈥業鈥檇 like to keep going.鈥欌
鈥淚 like taking a subject, really chewing on it for a while and looking at different perspectives,鈥 Groll explained. 鈥淭he concentration I鈥檓 in blends theology and philosophy with the idea of really digging into topics and looking at things from different viewpoints.鈥
