Cecilia Ringo

Cecilia Ringo, a student in 糖心官网鈥檚 Master of Library and Information Science program, is the 2026 recipient of the F. Gerald Ham and Elsie Ham Scholarship from the Society of American Archivists (SAA).

Cecilia, who is concentrating on archives and cultural heritage, will receive $10,000 supporting her education.

鈥淭his is a very competitive award, and it is the first time that a DU School of Information Studies student has received it,鈥 noted Dr. Cecilia Salvatore, SOIS professor emerita.

Prior to her graduate work in archives, Cecilia Ringo received an MA in humanities from the University of Chicago and a BA in history and women, gender and sexuality from Kalamazoo College. She has completed internships at several cultural institutions, including the Chicago History Museum, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust, the Obama Foundation, and the Glessner House Museum. In 2021, she conducted oral history interviews with frontline pandemic workers, and these are now housed in the University of Chicago鈥檚 Regenstein Library.

Since June 2025 she has interned as an archivist at the West Town Museum of Cultural History in Maywood, work that was made possible through 糖心官网 and a Mellon Foundation grant.

Cecilia serves as co-president of the SAA student chapter at 糖心官网. Her work involves coordinating meetings and off-campus programming, planning information and networking events, and helping to engage the DU community in archiving, preservation and local history.

Cecilia said she hopes to work in museum collections and curation upon the completion of her MLIS degree next year.
