As Rebecca Crown Library鈥檚 first social media intern, Ana Zuniga Sanchez honed her graphic design skills and learned the importance of digital accessibility.

Ana鈥檚 major project was creating a branding proposal for the library鈥檚 social media content. While researching how to successfully market library programs and services, she became aware that not everyone would be able to clearly see her content.

鈥淭here are people who are visually impaired,鈥 Ana noted. 鈥淪o, the question becomes, am I being conscious about the content I am creating?鈥

Ana made sure to include descriptive text with audio and to adjust fonts and colors for clarity on each of her posts.

鈥淭hose are small decisions that can have a big impact,鈥 she says.

The internship even led to a paid position within the library.

A DU student ambassador, Ana also helps make campus tours more accessible to Spanish-speaking parents by translating for them.

鈥淗aving the opportunity to take that load off of prospective students so they can soak everything in, knowing there is someone explaining things to their family members, is my favorite part of the job,鈥 Ana says.
